ABOUT ME
I am Professor of International Theatre and Performance and Programme Director of Film and Performing Arts at Norwich University of the Arts.
I have a PhD in Performance Practice from the University of Exeter, a BA (Hons) Degree in Performance Arts from Middlesex University and also studied at the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School in Paris (1987- 89).
I am an interdisciplinary researcher, director and performer working across landscape, performance studies, geo-humanities and new materialist thinking. My research examines how landscapes, people and more-than-humans, intersect in a climate changed world, while also developing innovative research methodologies grounded in creative, embodied, and participatory approaches. In 1989, I co-founded the La Mancha International Theatre Company with Rodrigo Malbrán and continue to be its UK Artistic Director. The company has produced over twenty-five theatre projects, performing throughout the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Central and South America. Each production has used the devising process to create highly visual new work and theatrical adaptations.
In 1995, I co-founded La Mancha International School of Image and Gesture in Santiago, Chile. The School offers professional training in contemporary theatre making and postgraduate courses in acting, directing, teaching and theatre in Human Development.
